The Edit- Julia Ashwood

Julia Ashwood’s world is sun-drenched and full of soul.

As founder and former co-owner of Sun Ranch Byron Bay, Julia brings warmth, texture, and a touch of nostalgia to her Edit. Her style is rustic boho with an earthy elegance – timeless, character filled and effortlessly cool. Julia brings a fresh perspective to modern living, showing how natural materials and soulful design can make a space feel lived in and loved.

When asked how she begins curating a space, Julia explains,

“At home, I usually start with one favourite item - a vase, a lovely piece of art, something that sets the tone. I also like to have one central focus - it might be the bed, a fireplace, a record cabinet, or a table”.

From there, she builds outward, letting that piece and focus guide the textures and colours that shape the room. Julia’s Edit layers natural materials and vintage-inspired shapes, creating a space that feels timeless and tactile.

The Abode Leather Chaise Recliner in rich tan sets the scene, grounded and inviting, paired with the Bronte Travertine Dining Table, whose smooth stone top contrasts beautifully with timber legs.

The Alexander Swivel Chair adds a sculptural edge, its supple leather and curved silhouette balancing comfort with presence. The Marbella Swivel Chairs in deep green velvet brings a hint of drama, while the Banjo Side Table in black adds weight and definition. The effect is relaxed but intentional, the kind of room that makes you want to stay.

“I really enjoyed combining the materials,” Julia says. “The smooth, cool travertine on timber, the low tan leather lounge, the soft velvet, it feels quite 70s and organic but modern at the same time.”

“This feels grounded,” she adds.

Julia’s Edit reminds us that true style lies in comfort and authenticity - a home that feels timeless, calm, and distinctly yours.
