A pool house is the ultimate fusion of relaxing holiday vibes and chic, effortless style. And who says you even need a pool to create that vacation house feel at your place?
Whether you’re looking to create a staycation home or renovate a modern playroom, there’s no reason why you can’t introduce airy, bright, and playful pool house style into your world.
Try these pool house ideas and essentials to surround yourself in breezy holiday vibes no matter where you are.
Essential elements of every great pool house
Three Birds Renovations recently created an impossibly stylish and unbelievably laid-back pool house for their Australian Staycation House #13, which showcases just how flawless and spectacular a few simple rooms can be.
Naturally, it all begins with colour. Specifically – a creamy tone that’s reminiscent of pure white sandy beaches, breezy hotel rooms, and that lighter-than-air holiday feeling. Cream is the central hue both indoors and out, and is accented with natural rattan tones, gentle greys, beachy greens, and soft, ethereal blues. This colour palette feels like the first morning of a beachside holiday, light and relaxed and filled with promise.
With a muted palette setting the scene, it’s time to get playful. Seek out décor that will transform this relaxed space into a playroom — into an area that genuinely feels like a fun getaway from the real world. Think quirky signs on the walls, games for the young and young-at-heart, or even actual surf or skateboards for a summery, beach-side vibe.
The ultimate purpose of any pool house or rec room is relaxation, and for that, you’ll need couches. This is not the place for a traditional leather look, or strict square shapes. This is the time for slouchy, soft, and serene.
That’s why Three Birds Renovations chose the Lounge Lovers Pod Modular Armless sofas in Eggshell for their modern pool house. Their laid-back style and soft silhouette are perfect for unfussy yet chic rec rooms, and their removable covers make them easy to clean. You can arrange them in a line like a standard couch, spread them out for an informal look, or even carry them outdoors on nice days for added seating by the pool.
How to style couches and sofas for pool house perfection
The Pod Modular sofas are stylish on their own, but to add your own flair and tie them in with the rest of the room, there are a few ways you can inject even more character and charm.
Each Pod Modular sofa comes with its own cushion, but you can easily add a pop of colour with a larger, brighter cushion. A beachy print can also further uplift the space and amplify that holiday spirit.
To make your sofas truly pop, add a subtle yet stylish layer underneath with a light and playful rug. The Atrium Polo Bleached Rug adds to the natural colour tones with its wicker hues, while its soft round edges and natural weave offer an organic, outdoor feel.
And don’t forget, styling a sofa isn’t all about the sofa. Three Birds Renovations used a clever style tip in their pool house – they didn’t just introduce the room’s hues to the couch, they also introduced the couch’s hues into the room. The cool eggshell colour of the Pod Modular couches is mirrored perfectly by an understated grey woven basket, ensuring a seamless, smooth transition of the eye through the room that pulls everything together and makes it all feel as effortless as a day by the pool.
