Whether it’s a loft-style apartment or a spacious contemporary cottage, we all have an image in our minds of what our ideal house looks like — and the style it should embrace.
Three Birds Renovations has unveiled the House 14 project, coined "The Three Birds Dream Home". This home brings the best of all their builds together and allows design enthusiasts to replicate the look in their own space.
From house to home: it’s all about the furniture
No look is truly complete until the house has been fully styled to bring your vision to life. What truly makes the home yours is the furniture you lovingly select to go inside. The pieces you choose reflect who you are, and will stay with you as you make memories with your loved ones over the years.
In Episode 5, Three Birds showcase how they put this into action in the final house reveal. We take a look below at how they transformed it into a dream home using furniture and styling.
Build a mood board
As we saw in House 14 Episode 1, every Three Birds project starts with concept planning. And when you’re planning your dream home, it’s good to take a leaf out of the trio’s book.
There’s no shortage of dream home inspiration online, from the Lounge Lovers blog to your favourite interior designers and stylists. Create a Pinterest board or use Style Sourcebook to compile the looks you’re coveting, and you’ll soon start to see themes emerge in your preferences.
Connect the outdoors with the indoors
What are the elements we absolutely adore about Three Birds House 14? We love how this look is endlessly versatile while celebrating quintessential outdoor living with its blend of natural materials and hues.
By pairing the rattan and solid elm of the Arlo Dining Chairs with a classic white wooden dining table, Three Birds creates an effortlessly contemporary dining space. Together with a splash of mustard and a touch of greenery on the table, this dining area brings the best of Australia’s coastal charm.
Unite with colours and materials
Style should be a source of inspiration, not of limitation. Keep in mind that you can adapt your preferred aesthetic for different rooms of the house, depending on how it’s going to be used and where it fits in your floor plan.
From the alfresco space to the laundry, Three Birds House 14 has a sense of cohesion without being uniform in the approach. The trio brings the entire home together with crisp, clean shades, earthy splashes of colour, and wooden elements throughout.
Discover how the team brought different items together in the space in this video.
From rattan in the dining area, accents of gold in the boy’s room to green and beige in the laundry every room in House 14 adds to the overarching sense of flow.
Subtle statement style
A statement piece ties a space together and adds a focal point to the room. A subtle statement can be something as simple as the Jaque Terrazzo Stool Side Table in the BBQ patio area.
Elegant yet unique, this design-led piece boasts a striking form and material: terrazzo, a composite stone crafted from chips of concrete, marble and granite. This one-of-a-kind combination of patterns, colours and textures draws the eye without being too overbearing or clashing with the rest of the elements in the space.
